Vista Guapa YOLO Mardi Gras SUP experience!

Vista Guapa Surf Camp announces an exciting itinerary of its special edition Vista Guapa YOLO Experience camps in the beautiful surf town of Jaco, Costa Rica for the 2014 season beginning with the annual Mardi Gras trip from March 1st to March 7th, 2014. Led by Louisiana native and Vista Guapa ambassador Mark Salvetti, the Mardi Gras trip is a festive weeklong adventure camp where guests enjoy daily surf, flat-water paddling sessions, fitness training, photography instruction, sightseeing excursions, homemade local cuisine, Mardi Gras beads and much more. Additional YOLO Experience camps are also scheduled for July and December.

“Plans are underway now to make next year’s YOLO Experience Camps the best ever,” adds Salvetti. “The camps are designed to provide an authentic experience of the Costa Rican culture and the Pura Vida lifestyle with personalized expert instruction and adventure beyond your imagination. Whether you are a longtime surfer or a first time paddler, you will leave with new skills, amazing memories and new friendships. Join us for a week and you will leave ‘Ocean Fit’ and recharged for the world.”

Limited to 12 guests, the YOLO Experience camps offer an intimate experience with the area’s best local surf instructors including Vista Guapa co-owner Alvaro Solano, a seven-time national surfing champion and one-time masters champion. Co-sponsored by YOLO Board, a typical day at the camp begins with a morning SUP surf session followed by a delicious home-cooked breakfast, down time to relax by the pool in a hammock or enjoy an outdoor yoga session overlooking the Pacific Ocean, lunch before an afternoon paddle or second surfing session, and then dinner in town at one of Jaco’s choice eateries.

“I experienced Pura Vida firsthand from the moment I stepped off the airplane and met my Vista Guapa guide,” said Greg Menning, a guest of the camp in October 2013. “I had never surfed before, and Alvaro gave me expert instruction that allowed me to catch my first wave on the third try. This alone made the trip for me but there was so much more to see and do, including a side trip to the jungle and waterfalls. The price for this all-inclusive trip that included surf lessons and excellent accommodations was extremely reasonable, and I was extended the utmost of Costa Rican hospitality making me feel at home in a wonderfully green surrounding.”

In addition to the March trip, a July 2nd-11th YOLO Experience led by Christian Cook, YOLO Board Ambassador and founder of NRG Salt and CrossSUP®, and a December Women’s YOLO Experience camp with YOLO Board Elite SUP Racer Darian Boyle will also be offered (dates TBA).

Vista Guapa is located on a tranquil five acre tropical oasis with three air-conditioned guest bungalows, each featuring two rooms with private bathrooms and decks with hammocks and views of the Pacific, a main house for group gatherings, a swimming pool and two open air Yoga pavilions. Recently featured in Standup Paddle Magazine, “…Vista Guapa Surf Camp, where a friendly and professional crew takes lucky visitors on a five-star adventure of local culture, perfect waves, warm water and ample, delicious meals – in other words, a true “pura vida” experience.”
