Born and raised in Destin, Florida, Matt is an up and coming talent on the SUP racing circuit, following closely in the footsteps of his father, Gary Wise. Growing up in the YOLO Board family, Matt was introduced to SUP at the age of twelve and enjoys spending as much time as possible out on the water. At only sixteen, Matt has already been making waves locally with strong finishes in both the YOLO Board Stand Up Paddle Series and the YOLO Board Mileage Builder Series.

Notable SUP accomplishments in 2011 include first place in the GCSUP and East Coast Paddleboard Championship (16 and Under Division), second place in the Paddleboard for Humanity at Deerfield Beach (Men’s Paddleboard Stock Division), third place in the Treasure Island Race (12’6” Elite Division) and second place in the C2C 22/11 mile challenge (14′ Elite Division). Matt is also sponsored by Kialoa and Maui Rippers.

An all-around waterman, Matt also participates in the United States Life Saving Southeast Regional and National Junior Championships. He has a total of twelve medals in the Southeast Regionals and six medals at the National level over the course of four years of competition. When not on the water, Matt is a student at Fort Walton Beach High School and enjoys spending time with his family.
